Scanning the Greater Saphenous Vein (GSV)

 

Injecting anesthetic at phlebectomy sites

 

We use the ‘Dornier Laser’ 

 

Dornier settings

 

Use a small needle to access the GSV

 

Insert guide wire, catheter & laser fiber

 

Use ultrasound to make sure the laser fiber is 2 inches below the junction of the saphenous and femoral vein (SFJ)

Using a local anesthetic (tumescent/dilute lidocaine with epinephrine) to numb the areas where the laser will be fired.
